This software is by far the most complete petroleum engineering dictionary in Iran that provides meanings of special words and expressions applied in oil and gas industry in English and Persian language. The software’s database contains more than 21000 words from oil, gas and other related fields. In order to better understand the meaning of some words, pictures will help a great deal. PetroDic has now upgraded to a brand new version after a trial period, the features of that includes utilizing faster search engine, compatibility with various operating systems (all versions of windows), using more compact package and offering new functionalities.
- Enter a word to search in the dictionary and then press Enter button. You can also use the search button instead of pressing Enter button.
- While you type a word, PetrodicR tries to suggest you some words when you can select the one you wanted.
- Click on the downward arrow to see the history, i.e. the words searched before.
- If the word you are looking for does not exist, similar words will be suggested. In case no similar words exist, a dash will be displayed.
- Click on pictures to zoom in or save them.
Features:
Drop Basket: Drop Basket is a floating icon on your screen for your easier access. This icon provides three features for you:
1- When every window is enabled except PetroDic, the software will be displayed by clicking on this icon.
2- You can change the icon position by dragging it.
3- (The main function :) In order to translate a word in the text areas, such as word, power point, text, pdf, html, etc. just select the word and drag it over the Drop basket icon.
Note: when the text is a PDF file, you should open it by Firefox.
- Translation of copied text: No matter you use what kind of software; PetroDic will be activated as soon as you copy a word. You can also activate PetroDic by selecting a word and pressing Ctrl+C.
- By manipulating the software features menu, you would be able to enable/disable functionalities of the software.
- To copy the translation, you can click on it and then use the menu.
- By minimizing the software or pressing Esc button, the software will be displayed at the bottom-right side of the windows beside clock icon.
- To move PetroDic in windows, you can drag the corners.
